Naturopathic Doula Training

Hey ND,

  • Are you considering adding doula work to your practice but not sure what to expect?
  • Would you like to expand your expertise and skill-set around pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum?
  • Do you need Cat A CE (CONO) credits?

What to expect

This is a limited small-group comprehensive training program where you will learn:

  • How to help your patients navigate pregnancy care and choices in our healthcare system, including standard tests and assessments.

  • How to optimize aspects of the pregnancy to minimize the need for birth interventions

  • About the naturopathic approaches to common pregnancy symptoms

  • What to expect during labour and childbirth and, more importantly, understand what to expect when working with different health care providers and in different birth locations.

  • About common interventions in labour and birth from both conventional and naturopathic perspectives.

  • Ways to emotionally and physically support your doula clients.

  • How to effectively advocate for your doula client and communicate with healthcare providers

  • About lactation support techniques and learn how to answer your patients’ most common questions around breastfeeding, choosing formula, pumping and bottle feeding.

  • About the business side of being a doula and how to incorporate it into your naturopathic practice

The best part is, you get 12 Category A CE credits upon completion!

This is an intensive course, with both an online component and an in person component. Our goal is for you to come away with practical, tangible tools to help your patients through one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.

Our next in person training is June 8-9 in Mississauga

Standard: $800

Early bird: $700 (register by April 30)

Naturopathic student: $500

About Your Downtown Doula:

Founded in 2016, we are a collective of regulated health professionals who provide expert care in doula support, perinatal services and education throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum throughout the GTA. Our passion in this work is to instill confidence and resilience during this transformative time in our clients’ lives.

Recognizing the value of our collective experience and expertise acquired through this work, YDD aims to pass along this knowledge and help create a viable career option for ND’s in this important and ever changing field.

PREGNANCY IS AN INCREDIBLY VULNERABLE TIME

Our healthcare system often doesn't provide the kind of support that families so desperately need. As an ND, you're in a unique position to offer additional physical, emotional and educational support through the whole process. Even if you don't plan to attend births, this course offers:

  • The program is conducted in a hybrid format with a mix of self-paced learning through readings and videos plus a 2 day in-person training component to practice hands-on techniques and consolidate what you have learned.
  • Learning concepts are reinforced through hands-on practice, roleplay, competency quizzes and sharing of real experiences from the instructors.
  • Program includes access to videos and associated content and a PDF handbook that can be used as a reference guide when you are out in practice.
  • Program is taught by a team of instructors that include experienced and actively practicing naturopathic doctors, doulas and a lactation consultant who are eager to share their clinical knowledge with you!
  • Upon completion, you can immediately apply your new knowledge and skills in practice.
  • This course has been pre-approved for 12 Cat A CE credits (CONO).
